Disciple Bible Study is Back!

DISCIPLE will return to St. Charles Church for the "School Year" 2011-12. DISCIPLE has been a wonderful blessing to St. Charles and United Methodist churches across the country. DISCIPLE has opened hearts and minds: to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments; to the gifts and graces which God has given each of us; and to our prospects for ministry -- as a congregation and as individuals.

"DISCIPLE: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study" (Disciple 1)

Meets Sunday 5:00-7:00 PM
"DISCIPLE: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study" (Disciple 1) is a 34 weekstudy that  immerses class members in the full breadth of Biblical literature. From Genesis to Revelation, we consider the nature and focus of God's interaction with God's people. However, this is "DISCIPLE" Bible Study not "Academic" Bible Study. The name is the key: Class members constantly face the question, "How then shall we live?". DISCIPLE Bible Study educates and entertains, but its fundamental purpose is to challenge and revitalize persons and congregations through the Word.

"DISCIPLE: Into the Word, into the World" (Disciple 2)

Meets Wednesday 6:30-8:30 PM and Thursday 9:00-11:00 AM
Class members "dig deeper" into four books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. As the subtitle suggests, "dig deeper" will also apply to our faith and witness in the world.

"DISCIPLE: Under the Tree of Life" (Disciple 4)

Meets Monday 7:00-9:00 PM
"DISCIPLE: Under the Tree of Life" (Disciple 4) discovers anew "The Writings" of Hebrew Scripture (Ruth, Esther, Chronicles, Proverbs, Psalms, and more). The Gospel of John, the Letters of John and James, and Revelation come to life in the second half of the course. "Jesus in the Gospels" is an extension of the DISCIPLE series. The title "says it all". Class members encounter Jesus as the gospel writers "knew" him - rooted in Jewish tradition and eager to reveal the full truth of God, humanity, and all Creation.
