Welcome to St Charles United Methodist Church

1905 Ormond Blvd Destrehan, LA 985-764-8292

If you are looking for a church home where you can make new friends and visit with old ones; a place where you can use your talents and abilities to serve one another; a place where you can find out just how much God loves you; then St. Charles United Methodist Church is what you have been looking for. We are a friendly, diverse and very casual congregation where you will fit in, no matter who you are and where you have been. Join us at one of our morning worship services with excellent music and relevant preaching and where we are glad to provide a professional and caring nursery for all our worship services.

Sunday Worship Services

Normally, the church provides two church services every Sunday. The contemporary service is at 8:30 am and the  traditional service with choir is at 11:00 am. In between these two services we hold Sunday school for children and adults starting at 9:45 am. In addition to the nursery for infants, we hold a church school for the smaller children. Bring your preschoolers to the service with you and after the children's sermon they will be escorted to class.

Dress varies widely from wearing jeans to suits. On the first Sunday of each month we usually hold our Communion service. All believers in Christ are invited to take Communion.

Have you ever been to a party that God puts on? Have you ever wanted to visibly see God at work changing lives? Have you wanted to see the love of our Lord manifest in a group of humble servants? If you have then you need to join the team who will be ministering to 30 ladies at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for women. Pray and ask God if He desires you to join Him April 22 - 25, 2010 at LCIW.  See our Kairos Web Page for more information.

Sunday Announcements:  07-February-2010

UPCOMING SERMON TOPICS:  "How Do I Share My Faith?" on February 14. Please prayerfully consider the people in your life who might find these topics particularly meaningful and invited them to church with you!

SR. HIGH YOUTH: The Sr. High Youth will meet at the Parsonage, #1 D’Evereux on Wednesday 2/17/10 at 7:30 p.m.  Mark your calendar NOW!!

FAMILY FELLOWSHIP FORMS:  If you haven’t filled out a NEW Family Information Sheet, please do so as soon as possible.  The information you provide is vital to the church office.  You may have filled out a form in the past and none of your information has changed, but we are still asking for everyone to fill out the new form.  Forms are located in the Narthex. Completed forms can be left on the secretary’s desk.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  We are always in need of people to volunteer in the following areas: Greeters, Ushers, Acolytes and Lay Readers.  Volunteering in these areas is a way you can contribute to your church experience.  Each area volunteers in a rotation so that you are serving only a few times each year.  Please consider serving and call the church office for more information.  We are especially in need of Lay Readers and Acolytes.  Thank You.

ASH WEDNESDAY:  Ash Wednesday Service will be February 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  We hope you will join us for this prayerful time.  During Lent there will be brief worship services with guest speakers each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING: OGHS Fish Banks are now available in the Narthex.

COAT COLLECTION:  Ellen Hartline would like to thank all who donated coats for the Bruce Katz Coat Collection.  She is thankful for the outpouring of generosity shown by SCUMC.  Thank you again for being so involved and willing to help others.
